Vehicle Applications of Controller Area Network

چکیده
The Controller Area Network (CAN) is a serial bus communications protocol developed by Bosch in the early 1980s. It defines a standard for efficient and reliable communication between sensor, actuator, controller, and other nodes in real-time applications. CAN is the de facto standard in a large variety of networked embedded control systems. The early CAN development was mainly supported by the vehicle industry: CAN is found in a variety of passenger cars, trucks, boats, spacecraft, and other types of vehicles. The protocol is also widely used today in industrial automation and other areas of networked embedded control, with applications in diverse products such as production machinery, medical equipment, building automation, weaving machines, and wheelchairs. In the automotive industry, embedded control has grown from stand-alone systems to highly integrated and networked control systems [11, 7]. By networking electro-mechanical subsystems, it becomes possible to modularize functionalities and hardware, which facilitates reuse and adds capabilities. Fig. 1 shows an example of an electronic control unit (ECU) mounted on a diesel engine of a Scania truck. The ECU handles the control of engine, turbo, fan, etc. but also the CAN communication. Combining networks and mechatronic modules makes it possible to reduce both the cabling and the number

Stability investigation of hydraulic interconnected suspension system of a vehicle with a quaternion neural network controller
Using hydraulic interconnected suspension (HIS) system to improve the stability of the vehicles is a matter of recent interest of many scholars. In this paper, application of this kind of suspension system and its impact on the stability of the vehicle are studied. The governing dynamic relations of the system are presented, using free body diagram, Newton-Euler motion equations, and relations ...

The main problem of vehicle vibration comes from road roughness. An active suspension systempossesses the ability to reduce acceleration of sprung mass continuously as well as to minimizesuspension deflection, which results in improvement of tire grip with the road surface. Thus, braketraction control and vehicle maneuverability can be improved consider ably .This study developeda new active su...

The ever-growing use of various vehicles for transportation, on the one hand, and the statistics ofsoaring road accidents resulting from human error, on the other hand, reminds us of the necessity toconduct more extensive research on the design, manufacturing and control of driver-less intelligentvehicles. For the automatic control of an autonomous vehicle, we need its dynamic...
متن کاملComparison of CAN, TTP and Flexray Communication Protocols
The communication network is a key enabling technology for many of the latest advances in automotive electronics design. As drive-by-wire, vehicle control systems (e.g., vehicle stability control), hit avoidance, pre-crash warnings, and other design advances become more pervasive, the selection of the most appropriate in-vehicle communication protocol(s) for these critical applications becomes ...
متن کاملPoster Abstract: Lightweight Authentication Method for Controller Area Network
In the age of smart and connected vehicles, there are significant issues in providing security for in-vehicle networking. Many security efforts for in-vehicle networks are still insufficient to build a lightweight security mechanism. Typically, it comes from the limitations of Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol common to in-vehicle network. We propose a lightweight authentication method bas...
